Queen gives Gordon Brown gift from David Cameron’s wife’s shop

Gordon Brown’s farewell gift from the Queen for handing in his resignation as being Prime Minister on Tuesday was two expensive leather picture frames, from the shop where the wife of the new Prime Minster, David Cameron, is creative director.

The leather picture frames have signed pictures of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in them but we wonder if Gordon Brown will be able to see past their smiling faces or if having a picture frame from the shop that the wife of the man who took over his job is from will mean that the pictures gets hidden away in the top drawer instead of pride of place on the mantelpiece.

Samantha Cameron is the creative director of Smythson of Bond Street, a 120 year old store where the Queen gets many gifts from (well her Buckingham Palace aids will do the leg work for her)!

Maybe if the queen had thought this through she may have opted for a gift from somewhere else, maybe a personalised Leaving Work spoof newspaper as one possibility (look at other personalised newspapers here).
